Young dancer wins national title

December 8, 2013

Parker Garrison of Raleigh was named Petite Master Dance of America at this year’s Solo Title Scholarship Competition, part of the annual Convention of Dance Masters of America in New Orleans.

Parker, 9, also won the Tap and Acrobatic Class Awards for the highest scores earned in classes that are part of the competition and the Mr. Personality Award, an honor determined by peers.

In addition to the classes, each participant was interviewed by a panel of judges and performed in solo and group dances. Parker’s solo dance was choreographed to the song “Luck Be a Lady” from the Broadway musical “Guys & Dolls.”

Parker, the son of Josh and Donna Garrison, is a student of Stage Door Dance Productions in Raleigh.
