Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh reopens after seafood restaurant fire

From staff reportsDecember 9, 2013

— Police shut down some northbound lanes of Atlantic Avenue near Millbrook Road and narrowed East Millbrook Road's westbound lanes for a time Monday morning while firefighters attacked a fire in a restaurant on East Millbrook.

The fire at Fitzgerald’s Seafood was brought under control about 25 minutes after apparatus arrived on the scene at 6:10 a.m.

Police reopened Atlantic Avenue about 7:15 a.m.

Firefighters were making sure the fire had not extended across the building beneath the roof of the building at 2105 E. Millbrook Road, just east of the intersection.

Police also blocked entrances to some businesses on the east side of Atlantic Avenue because their parking lots connect with the lot for the restaurant.
