NC 42 reopened, closed again for second crash

From staff reportsDecember 10, 2013

— For the second time, a crash has closed a stretch of N.C. 42 in southern Wake County.

The road remained obstructed near Barber Bridge Road as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police first closed N.C. 42 near Johnny Baker Road between Garner and Fuquay-Varina after a crash at 11 a.m. Firefighters worked to free a person trapped in a vehicle between a car and a tractor-trailer truck.

Authorities reopened the road at about 3:30 p.m., but a second crash at about 3:45 p.m. closed the largely two-lane road near Barber Bridge Road, about two miles east of the original crash.
