Coyotes' Doan facing prolonged absence

The Sports NetworkDecember 12, 2013

Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Phoenix Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett announced that team captain Shane Doan is expected to be sidelined indefinitely with an undisclosed illness that has kept him out of the club's last two games.

Doan has not played since Dec. 4 due to the condition.

"He's still under the weather and he's still not going to be available for the foreseeable future," Tippett said. "He's still getting some tests done, so hopefully it's not long, long-term."'

Doan leads the Coyotes with 12 goals this season, while his 23 points in 27 games are tied for second among Phoenix players. Prior to his current absence, the 18-year veteran had missed only 13 games over the past six seasons.
