Raleigh police say man carried AR-15 rifle in attempted robbery

From staff reportsDecember 13, 2013

— A man tried to rob two others of their wallets while he was armed with an assault rifle Thursday, according to an arrest warrant taken out by Raleigh police.

The warrant stated that Christopher Demitrius Holland, 25, of 325 Angier Ave. in Raleigh was arrested Thursday evening in the 1700 block of Dallas Street, an arrest report said.

He had an AR-15 rifle when he tried to get the wallets, the warrant said.

Police accused Holland of two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The possession charge cited an Oct. 3, 2011, conviction in Wake County for having a firearm on educational property, though Holland’s online state prison record does not show that.

Police also charged Holland with conspiracy to commit robbery, saying he had three unknown accomplices.

Holland’s bail was set at $250,000, and he was being held in the Wake County Detention Center.
