Four men charged in gunpoint robbery of Wake County woman

From staff reportsDecember 17, 2013

— Wake County sheriff's deputies charged four men with robbery with a dangerous weapon less than an hour after a woman told 911 dispatchers that a man with a handgun robbed her in front of her home.

Andre Terrell Dotson, 27; Dominique Robert Dotson, 24; Darnell Deon Dotson, 23; and Barry Frederick Holden Brown, 27, were arrested Monday morning at the Dotsons' home at 3907 Alder Grove Lane, which has a Raleigh address.

Each was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit that felony.

The woman said a man showed a silver handgun and demanded her purse shortly after she parked her car outside a house on Moonglow Drive.

That happened about 9:40 a.m., and deputies who had a partial description of the car and its registration saw a car pull into a garage at the Dotsons’ home seven minutes later.

Authorities surrounded the house and ordered the occupants to come out, and the three Dotsons and Brown did, according to a search warrant deputies acquired after they arrested the four.

In the house, the returned warrant stated, they found the victim’s purse, driver’s license, cell phone, library card and checkbook.

Deputies also said they found a loaded, .380-caliber, silver semiautomatic pistol and 33 grams of marijuana.

The investigation is continuing, sheriff’s spokesman Capt. James Stevens said.

Andre Dotson was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail for a court appearance Tuesday.

Dominique and Darnell Dotson and Brown were denied bail, with a magistrate citing previous firearms convictions for the Dotsons and Brown’s being on probation through May 2015 after being convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon.
