Boat maker to open facility near Swansboro, create 200 jobs

Amstrong Marine, an aluminum boat manufacturer, plans to open a new facility in Oslow County and create 200 jobs, Gov. Pat McCrory’s office announced Tuesday.

Armstrong Marine plans to invest more than $8.4 million in a facility near Swansboro. The company’s products include welded aluminum boats, fire boats, dive boats, pilot boats and research vessels.

The average annual salary for the new jobs will be $31,420, plus benefits. The Oslow County average is $26,908.

Armstrong also operates a manufacturing facility in Port Angeles, Wash.
