Couple charged in Costco theft, vehicle break-ins

— A 43-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been charged with an armed robbery at a Costco store in Raleigh and breaking into numerous vehicles and stealing tools and other items, all in the past two weeks.

Anthony Scott Weaver and Robin Lee Bennett, who live at 3024 Dogwood Drive in Raleigh, have been accused in numerous arrest warrants taken out Monday and Tuesday by Raleigh police.

According to one, both were part of a robbery Dec. 12, when two people armed with a black handgun stole three pairs of Silver Beats headphones, valued at $747, from a Costco store.

Weaver and Bennett were each charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and with conspiring with each other to do it.

Weaver was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon based on a 2011 conviction for attempted common law robbery after he had been charged with that, common law robbery and assault on an officer.

Bennett was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses after renting a Toyota truck by using another woman’s identification.

In warrants served Monday and Tuesday, Weaver was accused of a dozen car break-ins that began Dec. 8 and ran through four last Saturday.

Bennett was charged in 11 of those.

Several of the charges involved break-ins during which tools were taken from work vans.
