The Canes on Wednesday announced rookie forward Elias Lindholm will be allowed to compete for Sweden in the 2014 World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden. Lindholm, from Boden, Sweden, helped his country take the silver medal in last year’s tournament in Russia. This year’s event is set for Dec. 26 through Jan. 5.

Lindholm was the Canes’ top pick (fifth overall) in this year’s NHL draft.
