James Rapp: Grobe produced

December 18, 2013

Thanks for your kind Dec. 6 editorial tribute “The good guy” to Wake Forest football coach Jim Grobe, who recently resigned. Although a small school, Wake Forest has had success in running a respectable program and even winning at a high level.

Unfortunately, with its academic standards and small student body, Wake Forest will only rarely produce a ranked team and will probably never be national champions at anything, but its sports programs do allow a showcase for players who can, as individuals, advance into the professional ranks (for example, Tim Duncan, Chris Paul and we hope a few from this year’s football team).
