    • On Saturday, Acoustic Syndicate will showcase its instrumental brilliance at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, and Durham’s Carolina Theatre hosts “A Skaggs Family Christmas.”

For many years now, Chapel Hill’s Jim Watson has helped make the season bright by hosting his popular Christmas shows. A founding member of the Red Clay Ramblers and current bassist with Robin and Linda Williams’ Fine Band, Watson applies his “high lonesome” tenor to a solo set of traditional and modern Christmas songs; a second set of sing-alongs is aided by lyric sheets handed out to carolers thrilled to sing along with Jim. Watson brings his 28th annual Christmas Special to the Cave in Chapel Hill on Sunday ( caverntavern.com), and to Hillsborough’s Depot on Monday ( hillsboroughdepot.com).
