Raleigh police add robbery charge for man held in theft case

— Police have charged Barry Frederick Holden-Brown with robbing a man in Raleigh and using his credit cards the day before Holden-Brown and three brothers were charged with a using a gun to rob a woman in Wake County.

In an arrest warrant served on Holden-Brown at the Wake County Detention Center on Wednesday, detectives accused him of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiring with other unnamed people to commit a robbery and obtaining property by false pretenses.

Holden-Brown, 27, of 2805 Seclusion Court in Raleigh, had a silver, semiautomatic pistol when he robbed a man last Sunday night, taking his cell phone, keys and his wallet with two credit cards in it, the warrant stated.

That night and early Monday morning, police alleged, Holden-Brown used the cards to buy cigarettes and other items at a Circle K store, an Exxon station and a Walgreens drug store.

Later Monday morning, Wake County sheriff’s deputies arrested Holden-Brown and three brothers – Dominique, Darnell and Andre Dotson – at the Dotsons’ home on Alder Grove Lane and charged them with taking a woman’s purse shortly before.

Tuesday, they added a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
