Private equity firm acquires Sanford's Frontier Spinning Mills

The private equity firm American Securities has acquired Sanford-based Frontier Spinning Mills, which operates four facilities in North Carolina.

American Securities acquired the company from an affiliate of another private equity firm, Sun Capital Partners. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Frontier makes cotton and cotton-polyester blend yarns for the knitting and weaving industries. Its yarn is used in sportswear, socks, denim, home furnishings and other products.

The company employs 1,076 people in North Carolina and Alabama. It has two plants in Sanford, two in Mayodan and one in Wetumpka, Ala.
