Raleigh police accuse man of statutory rape of teen

From staff reportsDecember 20, 2013

— A 38-year-old Raleigh man was being held on $3 million bail Friday after police arrested him Thursday night on two counts of statutory rape involving a 15-year-old girl.

Michael Joel Bullock of 4413 Brockton Drive also was charged with one count of attempted first-degree rape.

Police filed charges after bringing Bullock to detective headquarters, according to an arrest report.

An arrest warrant said police believed the incidents happened between July 27 and Aug. 19.

The attempted rape charge indicates that force may have been involved.

State law specifies that if a victim is over 13 years old, there must be force or a weapon or injury to someone involved or there has to be at least one other person helping the person charged.

Bullock was scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
