Barry L. Reece: Drone killings bad for diplomacy

December 25, 2013

Almost daily we learn of a drone attack that resulted in the death of civilians. A recent drone strike in Yemen killed 17 persons. Five members of the group were “suspected” of involvement with al-Qaida; the rest were civilians in a wedding party. Drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan and Somalia are creating a groundswell of anti-American sentiment. One wonders how many people throughout the world will be moved to violent extremism in reaction to America’s use of drone assassinations.
