Tim Schwoyer: Pardon protesters

December 25, 2013

Reading the Dec. 12 front-page article “Researcher gets emotional at ‘Moral Monday’ trial” regarding Dr. Charles van der Horst, we all should ask, why? This man was turned away by our state legislators, so his voice was heard at Moral Monday rallies.

This is what “free speech” should be all about. But our governor and legislators call this “free speech” sponsored by anarchists. Van der Horst is an anarchist?

If Gov. Pat McCrory has any sense of fairness and belief in the U.S. Constitution, he will end all of this by issuing an immediate pardon to all of the Moral Monday participants. What is the great threat that our legislators fear?
