The days grow short at Sadlack’s, which is scheduled to shut down at the close of 2013 to make way for a big hotel on the Bell Tower Block of Hillsborough Street. But at least the place is going out in a style befitting one of Raleigh’s most iconic blue-collar joints, with some of the best working-class rock bands in the region. Terry Anderson’s OAK Team plays Friday, followed by Kenny Roby and Friends on Saturday. Eddie Taylor’s new supergroup Cousins plays Sunday, and a Tuesday night New Year’s Eve blowout with the Backsliders will probably take care of blowing the roof off the joint. It’ll be loud, pass-the-hat and not to be missed.
• Friday brings American Aquarium to Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre, and venerable South Carolina pop band Cravin’ Melon to Raleigh’s Southland Ballroom. The original lineup of another area icon, Nantucket, plays Saturday at the Lincoln. Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band is at Raleigh’s Pour House on Saturday.
Be careful out there, now, y’hear?
