RALEIGH — A man who had no identification was struck and killed by a truck on I-540 early Monday morning, while standing in the middle of the highway, authorities said.
The man was standing in one of the lanes on I-540 near Leesville Road when a utility truck carrying an excavator hit him, Sgt. Curtis Manning said. Highway patrol officer H.C. Ellefson was the first to responder at 12:21 a.m.
