Janet Scheid and Bud LaRoche: A noble gesture

December 30, 2013

The conservation easement, and eventual gift, of the Kellam-Wyatt farm is a remarkable accomplishment (“Prime land donated for nature preserve,” Dec. 10 news article). The easement protects the property in perpetuity. Not only is it a beautiful piece of property, but it is a serene and peaceful refuge in the middle of an otherwise chaotic world.

As friends of the owners, we know how long and hard they have worked to make this gift a reality. They have long dreamed of this land’s future – worried as they saw development creep and intrude all around them. Bob and Susan are to be commended for this generous gift and for their fortitude. All of us are better off for their commitment.
