Dave Maxey: Let’s snoop the snoopers

January 1, 2014

Regarding the Dec. 10 news article “Tech firms decry surveillance”: The N&O reported that eight major Internet companies have banded together to protest U.S. government surveillance programs that have been snooping into their databases of our personal information. I have a better idea. How about our making it illegal to accumulate these databases without our permission, and our coming up with an Internet browser that will prevent such tracking of our Internet activities? It should be sufficient for us to have to look at their advertising in order to use their Internet search programs.
