Manufacturer Key Gas Components expanding in McDowell County

A manufacturer for the gas appliance industry plans to expand its operation in McDowell County and create 37 jobs over the next three years.

Gov. Pat McCrory’s office announced this week that Key Gas Components would invest more than $2.2 million in its facility in Marion, about 35 miles east of Asheville.

Key Gas is eligible to receive a $110,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. The grant requires a local match, and the company must meet investment and job-creation milestones.

The average annual wage for the new jobs will be $30,606, plus benefits. That’s just above the McDowell County average of $30,349.

Marion-based Key Gas makes gas valves, fittings and orifices. The company also operates a facility in Allegan, Mich.
