Raleigh police investigate body found in wooded area

— Police found a dead person in a wooded area at the end of Belmont Drive on Thursday afternoon.

Raleigh Police Department officers had been on the scene for about five hours as of 6 p.m., but have not revealed the gender or confirmed whether the deceased person was a victim of a homicide.

“The investigation of the death remains underway, and no additional information is available right now,” police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
