Two face charges in Raleigh heroin-trafficking arrests

From staff reportsJanuary 3, 2014

— In separate arrests Thursday night and early Friday, police charged two men with heroin trafficking.

Thursday night, Melvin Brown, 44, of 1800 Tree Charm Court, a Wendell address, was arrested at 4600 Millstone Drive and charged with trafficking heroin by having between 14 and 28 grams of the drug.

About 1:15 a.m. Friday, Eric Williams of 4720 Hoyle Drive in Raleigh was arrested at a convenience store on Capital Boulevard and charged with four counts of trafficking in heroin.

Arrest warrants accused Williams of selling between 4 and 14 grams of the drug to a police informant.

The multiple charges were based on accusations of possessing, transporting, selling and delivering the same drug.

Warrants did not say there was any connection between the cases, though both men were charged by the same Raleigh police officer, M.K. Mitchell.

Williams was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and Brown in lieu of $50,000, with both due in court Friday.
