Marvin Woll: Raise minimum wage to $9 per hour

January 4, 2014

This week 13 states will raise their minimum wages. North Carolina is not among those states, and its minimum wage will remain at $7.25. It is time, actually past time, that our legislature and governor raise the minimum wage. Far too many people suffer while trying to make ends meet under the N.C. minimum wage. How can a parent and one or two children live on basically a thousand dollars per month?

An increase to $9 per hour should be enacted this year. Our low-income residents deserve no less.
