Three local students were among six winners statewide of 2013’s Young Artists Competition sponsored by Professional Educators of North Carolina.

Samantha Blough of Reedy Creek Elementary School in Cary and Keith Amboya and Wade Creech, both of Zebulon Middle School, each won a certificate of achievement and a $50 cash prize. Reedy Creek art teacher Kim Atkins and Zebulon Middle instructor Lisa Peszko also were honored at a ceremony last fall. The students’ artwork will appear in upcoming PENC publications.
