Barbara Magram: A wonderful story

January 5, 2014

I just wanted to hug Michaela Shirley and her mom, Alyse, after reading the Dec. 23 news article “Dejection turns into donations” – Michaela for being such a caring young woman and Alyse for being so thoughtful and for raising such a wonderful, altruistic daughter.

I would also like to thank them for adopting an adult dog from the Wake County shelter – and a big black dog, to boot. So many times, wonderful adult dogs are passed over for puppies, and for whatever crazy reason, black dogs present an additional adoption stumbling block.

I have no doubt that if Michaela continues to wish to pursue a career as a veterinarian that it will happen, and many, many animals will benefit from her care.
