Walter Powell: Needless guard

January 5, 2014

I am surprised after reading your Jan. 2 news article about the Vortex ride being guarded at the fairgrounds.

It baffles me that the DA thinks that evidence is still to be found after this late date (and all the weather), to the extent this ride has to be held onto. Why maintain this symbol of such tragedy for so long? I would venture a guess that all of the TV CSI groups, with all of their expertise and scientific procedures, could not find any more evidence.

We need to move on. If not, since I am retired with not much to do, I could “guard” this ride for $200 a day and save someone a lot of money.
