The Department of State Treasurer is seeking to lease nearly 100,000 square feet as it seeks to consolidate its 420 employees under one roof.

The department, which is now spread out in five different buildings in Raleigh, is looking for space within 5 miles of the state government offices in downtown Raleigh.

“We are looking at consolidating the Department under one roof to improve efficiency and customer service and take advantage of economies of scale,” department spokesman Schorr Johnson said in an email.

The department is looking to find space by April 1 or sooner, according to the request for proposals sent out by the State Property Office. The department is seeking an initial lease of three to five years, with the option to renew.

The State Property Office has set a deadline of Jan. 17 to receive proposals. The exact square footage the department is seeking is 96,641 with 438 parking spaces.
