Chapel Hill restaurant Crook’s Corner and Our State magazine are teaming up for a monthly celebration of the state’s barbecue restaurants called “Carolina ’Cue.”

Each month, Our State magazine profiles a different barbecue restaurant across the state and Crook’s plans to serve that restaurant’s ’cue at a monthly event.

The first one kicks off at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Crook’s Corner will be serving barbecue from Stephenson’s restaurant in Willow Springs, about 25 miles south of Raleigh. Stephenson’s is featured in this issue of Our State: ourstate.com/stephensons-barbecue/

Our State editor Elizabeth Hudson will be giving away copies of the January issue. North Carolina barbecue expert Bob Garner will be signing copies of his book, “Book of Barbecue: North Carolina’s Favorite Food.”

The February event will feature McCall’s Bar-B-Q & Seafood in Goldsboro, and March event will feature in Asheville.
