Wake man draws 25.5-year federal sentence on child pornography conviction

From staff reportsJanuary 8, 2014

— A Morrisville man has been sentenced to 25.5 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography.

Nathaniel Beltran Grinstead, 38, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan to 306 months in prison and lifelong probation after he is released.

Grinstead pleaded guilty last February to one count of manufacturing or producing child pornography.

When they arrested Grinstead on Dec. 14, 2011, Morrisville police said he had pictures in which he had had a 14-year-old girl pose nude.

They filed nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Grinstead lived on Grantsboro Lane at the time.

Federal prosecutors took over the case, which the FBI had investigated along with Morrisville police, and prosecuted Grinstead under their Project Safe Childhood Initiative, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina said.
