January 8, 2014

— Rolesville and Raleigh detectives arrested two men Tuesday on statutory rape charges, but police say the cases are unrelated.

In Raleigh, Jermaine Marchell Morrison, 29, of Des Plaines, Ill., was charged with three counts of statutory rape involving a 14-year-old girl last July.

In Rolesville, police charged Santiago Valentin Hernandez, 22, of 227 Light Breeze St. with two counts of statutory rape and one count of taking indecent liberties with a child, all involving a 13-year-old girl.

An arrest warrant charging Hernandez said the incidents happened between Oct. 15 last year and this Monday.

Rolesville Police Chief Matthew Anderson said the cases were unrelated.

Morrison was being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail and Hernandez in lieu of $1 million bail for court first appearances Wednesday.
