Wandering ram to be auctioned in Durham County

From staff reportsJanuary 10, 2014

— Bubba the ram, a Barbados-Mouflon sheep who spent several months at-large in Durham, will be sold at public auction Jan. 31.

The auction will be held at 10 a.m. at Elodie Farms in Rougemont. The address is 9522 Hampton Road.

Anyone may bid on Bubba, and there is no minimum. The ram must be removed from the farm immediately following the auction.

Bubba eluded numerous attempts at capture by the Durham County Sheriff’s Department and was spotted in the neighborhood near Streets at Southpoint mall and on the GlaxoSmithKline campus in Research Triangle Park. He was finally apprehended behind the closing door of a baited trap.

Money from the auction will go toward the animal’s board since capture in December. Anyone wishing to view the ram prior to the auction can contact Dave Artigues at 919-479-4606.
