Wake County starts kindergarten registration Monday

From staff reportsJanuary 10, 2014

Wake County parents can register their rising kindergartners for the 2014-15 school year starting Monday.

Parents should register at their child’s base school – the school assigned to their address. Families can plug in their address at wwwgis2.wcpss.net/addressLookup/ to find their base school.

To attend kindergarten in fall 2014, children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. But gifted children who are age 4 by April 16 will also be considered for admission.

Parents will need to bring several documents and records to pre-enroll their children. Go to www.wcpss.net/parents/kindergarten/ for more information.

Parents of new kindergartners must register before they can participate in the magnet school application period that begins Jan. 28.

Wake will hold mini-fairs for parents of rising kindergartners to learn about magnet schools on Tuesday at Highcroft Elementary School, 5415 Highcroft Drive in Cary; and Jan. 21 at Millbrook Elementary School, 1520 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh. The fairs run from 9 to 11 a.m.
