Raleigh police seek shooter who wounded man

— Police searched Friday for a man they said is a suspect in an early morning shooting in which another man was wounded at the Wayside Apartments on Garner Road.

Police got the shooting call at 3:41 a.m. and found Jermaine Anthony Weldon, 33, wounded at the apartments at 1107 Garner Road, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

While Weldon was taken to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, police began looking for a black man, about 6-foot-1, wearing a black puffy jacket and a black toboggan hat.

Weldon’s wounds were not believed to be life-threatening, Sughrue said.

Police were trying to determine what led to the incident.
