Teen’s acne video wins $48,000 scholarship

Emily Aarons of Raleigh was named a winner of the “I Acanya Succeed” scholarship sponsored by Medicis, maker of the acne treatment Acanya.

The scholarships, each worth $48,000 over four years, went to three students who submitted winning video essays explaining their personal struggles with acne and their experience getting treatment from a dermatologist or other medical professional. Applicants also had to submit two letters of recommendation and information about school and community activities.
