Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Colorado Avalanche goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere is dealing with back spasms.

With no indication on how much time Giguere might miss, the Avalanche recalled goaltender Sami Aittokallio from Lake Erie of the AHL.

Giguere is 7-4-0 with a 2.65 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 12 games this season.

Aittokallio has played in just one NHL game.

In addition, Colorado announced that defenseman Tyson Barrie, who missed one game with a shoulder injury, will join team in Chicago and is available for Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks. Forward David Van Der Gulik was placed on injured reserve.
