Daran Dodd: Murry’s welcome wagon

January 13, 2014

I recently moved from Johnston County to the Morrisville area. In a time that our opinion of our elected officials is at an all-time low, I was surprised when I opened my mailbox a couple of days ago and found a letter from Rep. Tom Murry from District 41. I found a warm welcome as a new resident to his district with an offer to contact him with any concerns or ideas to improve North Carolina.

I decided to take him up on his offer, and I wrote him an email expressing my appreciation for his welcoming me to his district. To my even greater surprise, Murry took the time to respond to my email that same evening. I must say that I was very impressed by this and felt that it should be recognized.

I wish that all of our elected leaders would do the same. After all, that is why we elected these folks, to listen to us and respond to our needs. Too many of our elected officials have forgotten this simple concept.
