Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox and pitcher Burke Badenhop agreed to a one-year contract Wednesday, thus avoiding arbitration.

Badenhop was acquired from Milwaukee in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Ortega on Nov. 22, 2013 after going 2-3 with a 3.47 earned run average in 63 relief appearances for the Brewers in 2013.

Over six seasons with the Marlins, Rays and Brewers, the 30-year-old right- hander owns an 18-20 record with a 3.98 ERA and three saves in 280 games, including 10 starts.
