Twelve seniors from Ravenscroft in Raleigh raised more than $50,000 for the American Cancer Society by running the Hood to Coast relay race in Oregon.
Around 1,000 teams participated in the August event, a 198-mile relay race from Mount Hood to Seaside, on the Oregon coast.
The Ravenscroft team, Ravens in the Hood, completed the course in 27 hours, 37 minutes and raised $50,964. They were the only team comprised entirely of high schoolers, and they were the fourth-highest fundraiser.
The team members were seniors Mary Grady Bell, William Christman, Max Haensel (captain), Rachel Hianik, Jay Hirl, Tim Hutter, Vanessa May, Juanita Perdomo, Emerson Storch and JT Taylor and juniors Keeton Glenn and Lizzy Micyus.
