Police investigating fatal shooting in Raleigh nightclub parking lot

— Police are investigating a shooting that took place early Sunday morning and the death of a 22-year-old man.

The victim has been identified as Michael Tavon Tolbert, who police found with a gunshot wound to his left calf when they responded to a reported shooting just after 4 a.m. Tolbert was transported to WakeMed, where he later died.

The incident took place in the parking lot of Flashbacks Sports Bar & Lounge, located at 4004 Capital Blvd, according to police.

A Raleigh Police press release indicates another person who was involved in the incident waited for police to arrive to the nightclub. It also said it may take several days for detectives to complete follow-up investigative work. No charges had been filed as of Sunday evening.

The Raleigh Police Department is asking any witnesses to the shooting who have not already spoken with detectives to call a tip line at 919-834-HELP.
