— A Raleigh man was arrested Monday on a charge of stealing 22 bottles of liquor from a North Raleigh bowling alley and restaurant when he worked there before Christmas.

Benny William Butler of 1909 Peach Road was arrested at his home two days after his 50th birthday, according to an arrest report.

According to an arrest warrant sworn out by Raleigh police, Butler took 22 bottles of vodka, rum, bourbon and whiskey on Dec. 23 from Sparian’s, a North Hills venue.

Butler was charged with one count of larceny by employee. The warrant does not say what Butler’s job was.

An arrest report listed his current job as a cook at a branch of The Big Easy restaurant.

A magistrate set Butler’s bail at $5,000, and he was being held for a court appearance Tuesday.
