Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard is expected to miss at least a week after re-injuring his left knee, the team announced on Tuesday.

Howard left in the second period of Monday's game against St. Louis, and had previously missed eight games last month with a sprained MCL in the same knee.

"There's fluid back on the knee. Just hopefully it gets out of there fast," said Howard.

On the season, Howard is 9-12-8 with a 2.64 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in 29 games.

Howard was selected as one of the three goaltenders for Team USA in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
