John Tricas: Why online

January 22, 2014

Regarding the Jan. 21 news article “Amazon to collect N.C. sales tax”: Thanks to the North Carolina government for pulling more money from my wallet. Even under the guise of leveling the playing field and paying the tax, I will still be purchasing from the web. Why? Because the prices are usually significantly cheaper than in stores here, I don’t leave a carbon footprint driving to the store and I save a tremendous amount of time.

Local business needs to get with the times and maintain an online presence because we haven’t seen anything yet from the Internet. Can we say, “buggy whip”? No, it’s more money for the state. That’s what it’s all about.
