Suspect named in fatal shooting of 9-year-old Durham boy

— Police are searching for a 23-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a 9-year-old boy in the head and wounding the boy’s mother.

Everett Lamont Graves, 23, of Elmira Avenue, is wanted on charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

The boy, Jaeden Sharpe, and his mother, Lakeisha Holloway, were shot in a car on the night of Jan.4. The child died on Jan. 10 of his injuries, while Holloway suffered serious wounds.

“The incident does not appear to have been random,” according to Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael.
