— Police say a 30-year-old construction worker plunged to his death Thursday morning after he fell from a scaffold at an apartment complex under construction in North Raleigh.

Gabriel Andrade, 30, was declared dead at the construction site, said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Police and emergency workers were dispatched to the site at 5741 Goodstone Dr., near the intersection of Spring Forest and Louisburg roads, just after 11 a.m. Thursday. A 911 dispatcher was told that a worker had fallen from scaffolding that was about five stories high, Sughrue said.

Investigators do not think foul play was involved in Andrade's death.

The N.C. Department of Labor is investigating. The agency has not made public the name of the construction company that employed Andrade.
