Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Earthquakes announced on Friday the club has signed defenders Brandon Barklage and Shaun Francis as well as goalkeeper Bryan Meredith.
Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Barklage, 27, has two goals and 10 assists during his five years in MLS. He began his career with D.C. United in 2009 and made 11 appearances over three seasons with United before signing with Red Bull New York ahead of the 2012 season.
He became a regular with the squad during his two years there, making 45 appearances while recording all of his career goals and assists.
Francis, 27, began the 2013 seasons with the Charlotte Eagles in the USL-Pro before latching on with the Chicago Fire on July 10. Francis, a four-year MLS veteran, has four assists over 29 career appearances.
Meredith, 24, was a second-round SuperDraft selection by Seattle Sounders FC in 2011 and spent 2011 and 2012 with the Sounders before moving to IK Brage in Sweden.
Meredith made 12 appearances for Sounders FC in 2012, picking up three shutouts in the process. He also spent time with the New York Cosmos in 2013, but did not make an appearance.
