UNC to WashU pipeline

Posted by Jane Stancill on January 24, 2014

Former UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Holden Thorp has hired away the chief of staff to the current chancellor, Carol Folt.

Erin Schuettpelz will leave the university next month to become associate provost for operations at Washington University in St. Louis, where Thorp is now the provost.

Thorp had promoted Schuettpelz to chief of staff in his office in 2012 when he was chancellor at UNC-CH. In that role she staffed and planned the UNC-CH Board of Trustees meetings and was a liaison with student government, UNC General Administration and the UNC Board of Governors.

Before that, Schuettpelz was director of state relations for the campus. Previously, she lobbied for the UNC system at the General Assembly.

On Thursday, UNC-CH trustees passed a resolution in her honor and Folt thanked Schuettzpelz for helping her settle into the chancellor’s office.
