J.J. Jansen Pro Bowl Diary: 2nd practice frightening Panthers coaches?

January 24, 2014

Panthers long snapper J.J. Jansen is keeping a travelogue for the Observer on his experiences and observations from his first Pro Bowl trip.

Last night, the league threw a fantastic luau for all the players and coaches. We had fantastic food, hula dancing, tribal warrior dancing and fireworks. I was happy to have Brad Nortman and his fiancée Lexi join us for the evening. It was a special treat to celebrate our great season together here in Hawaii. I think he particularly enjoyed the smiley-faced fireworks shot off during the finale. He’s the biggest kid on the team.

Today, we woke up early to take our team photos. We also got our first look at our Pro Bowl jerseys. There’s no doubt Phil Knight’s love for Oregon inspired the neon orange and green jerseys. Jonathan Stewart and Kenjon Barner would be proud!

We also had our second practice of the week at a local high school field. Both teams practiced at the same time with lots of family and friends on hand to support us. I also couldn’t help but notice certain Panther coaches keeping an extra eye or two on our practice. You can tell they’re scared already!

So long for now, JJ

P.S. Just wanted to give a special shout out to our DC Sean McDermott. He’s been my diary’s biggest fan and critic. Always something to coach up!
