Sisters rack up ribbons at state fair

Sisters Heidi Segars and Keira Segars of Raleigh both were awarded blue ribbons for their crafts at the N.C. State Fair last fall.

Keira, 6, won first place for a string art project and first place and best in show for a beaded, braided necklace in the kumihimo style.

Heidi, 8, won first place for a knitted hat and first place, best in show and Embroiderers Guild of America ribbons for a chicken scratch bookmark. She also won an honorable mention for an essay she wrote about what job she would like to have if she worked at the fair. (One-woman band was her answer.)
