Wake Forest shooting suspect caught

— Police have arrested Calvin Antonio Mitchell Jr. of Pine Avenue, the suspect in a Thursday night shooting incident.

Mitchell, 22, was arrested Saturday and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle and one of injury to personal property.

The shooting occurred in the 600 block of East Pine Avenue. Mitchell was being held in the Wake County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond and is due in District Court at 9 a.m. Monday morning.

According to Wake Forest police, Mitchell is suspected of firing multiple shots from a .38 caliber semiautomatic handgun into a vehicle, described in the arrest warrant as a gray 1999 Buick. The arrest warrant identifies the intended victims as Juwan Clifton, Carmello Jeffreys Doughty and Sheree Street.
